Our jewellery is made to be loved and worn every day. With a little extra care, you can help extend its life and keep it shining beautifully for years to come. Please follow the guide below to protect your Mabe&A pieces.

Caring & Storing

  • Wash your hands before putting on or removing your jewellery.
  • Jewellery should always be the last thing you put on — lotions, perfumes, deodorants, and household chemicals can harm gold plating and cause discolouration.
  • When not in use, store your pieces in a soft cloth pouch or box to prevent scratches.
  • Keep each piece separate to avoid metal-on-metal contact that can dull the finish.
  • Avoid storing jewellery in humid rooms — a dry environment helps preserve the plating and shine.

Cleaning

  • After every wear, gently clean your plated or gold-filled jewellery with a soft cotton ball or jewellery cloth to restore its natural glow.
  • Avoid using commercial cleaning solutions, soaps, or polishing cloths that contain chemicals — these can strip away the plating.
  • Be gentle when cleaning — softly rub the surface rather than buffing.
  • For gold-filled jewellery, soak in warm water with a mild soap for less than one minute, then clean with a soft brush and dry carefully.
  • 925 Sterling Silver requires less care, but may tarnish when exposed to salty air, chlorine, or sulphur products. Use a non-abrasive silver polish to restore shine.

Protecting

  • Avoid swimming, showering, exercising, or washing dishes while wearing your gold-plated pieces — keeping them dry will prolong their life.
  • Remove your jewellery before sleeping to prevent accidental damage.
  • Natural wear over time, including minor fading or rubbing of plating, is expected and not considered a manufacturing fault.

Pearls

  • After each wear, wipe pearls gently with a lint-free cloth.
  • Store pearls in the protective Mabe&A pouch or box provided — never in airtight containers or water.
  • Each pearl is unique in shape, size, and colour. Every one has been hand-selected for its natural brilliance and beauty.
